In
some instances, such as when the dealer has an Ace, you may have the possibility
of placing an insurance bet. Insurance bets cost half your original bet,
and pay 2 to 1 if the dealer gets Blackjack.
Let's put some numbers in to show how this works. Your original bet is
$20. The dealer has an Ace and you place an insurance bet of $10. If the
dealer gets Blackjack, you lose your initial $20 bet, but win $20 on the
insurance bet, so you break even. If the dealer does not get blackjack,
you lose the insurance bet and continue to play by the regular rules.
*Although Insurance is an option, we strongly discourage you from exercising
it. Reason being, the house edge on Insurance is 5%-7%.
